It was very interesting to see the results of this survey. All of my students believed that they were smart! There was diversity on their other answers. It was clearly evident who spent a great deal of time thinking, analyzing, and deciding where they fell, other on the other hand raced right through.
We had just finished a unit in health on different emotions. Together as a class we created a chill jar where students came up with strategies they could use when the become frustrated, angry, sad, etc. It was very cool to see some of these strategies translate over into our next unit!
One of my students already showcased a great deal of growth mindset with her reply, "I would try and solve it by myself and if I can't do it I ask for help." This self assessment also lead to great conversations one of my extremely bright students was stumped on this last question. He was having a hard time thinking of a time that he found something hard. This reminded me to really stretch my bright thinkers understandings.
